Abstract

Mastery of reading and writing for school-age children is an important provision that must be prepared in the formal education of children of productive age. Sei Undang Village is one of the sub-districts in Seruyan Hilir Sub-district which has the reading and writing mastery of post-pandemic school-age children in the low category, which is only 37.11%. In addition, about 12.18% of children in the pre-school age group, and 14.21% of children drop out of school. The results of the observation that 28.22% of school-age children who are active in elementary school have a reading fluency level in the low category. Mother's Literacy House is one of the Guidance Programs in the form of independent community service which aims to overcome barriers to education for elementary school age children, and increase learning motivation of elementary school age children. The implementation of the program aims to assist the literacy mastery of school-age children after the pandemic enters a new school year in the new normal era. The mentoring and evaluation of the success of the mentoring program was carried out from January to April 2022. Based on the evaluation results that the implementation of the mentoring program there were quite significant results, where reading literacy (49.12%) and writing literacy (48.89%) children experienced completeness at the end of the 4th week of mentoring (0%). The findings in this case study are in the form of increasing literacy mastery of school-age children in Sei Undang village which must be published and disseminated, in the hope that it can be used as reference material for further similar studies..
